Christmas fairy at Zurich Airport

We implemented a Christmas-themed gamification concept at Zurich Airport using the "Receipt to Play" concept.

We developed an eye-catching sales promotion for Zurich Airport during the 2025 Christmas season. The aim was to increase sales in the airport shops in a targeted manner and to add an emotional dimension to the shopping experience. With the "Receipt to Play" concept, the receipt became a game ticket: anyone who made a purchase in one of the participating stores could take part in a specially developed game of chance with our Christmas fairy. The prizes included shopping vouchers for airport retailers, chocolate hearts, and a small token of appreciation to encourage greater mindfulness.

The implementation of this live marketing measure was an effective combination of gamification, POS marketing, and seasonal sales activation.

The promotion ran for around six weeks, seven days a week, including over the holidays. Although the promotional stand was located in a less frequented area, we achieved high visibility through eye-catching staging: the Christmas fairies wore oversized mirror wings and acted as mobile eye-catchers in the mall.

The result was a measurable successful retail activation in the travel retail environment: over 20,000 game entries were registered, which corresponds to more than three games per minute during the game period.
The activation was accompanied by a poster campaign in the airport shopping area at various poster locations and in participating shops.

"made Marketing has succeeded in transforming a less frequented area of the airport shopping center into a real experience. Over 20,000 enthusiastic participants and increased sales and footfall speak for themselves. Thank you very much for the great, uncomplicated collaboration and the strong results."
David Offermann, Head of Commercial & Live Marketing, Zurich Airport Ltd.
