Mandala activation at Zurich Airport
An analog Christmas mandala activation at Zurich Airport—designed to give travelers and their companions a moment to pause and reflect during the hectic Christmas season.
For the area next to the Bye-Bye Bar at Zurich Airport, we designed and implemented an analog activation with a clear focus on slowing down. The task was to develop a Christmas promotion that grounds people and creates emotional relevance.
Our idea: mandala painting as a calming, low-threshold activity right before the trip. A deliberate contrast to the hustle and bustle of an airport. Travelers and their companions could grab a pen and get creative.
We also developed a Christmas "wish wall," which was used extensively. Visitors wrote down their personal wishes and could also read the wishes of others.
The concept, design, walls, and mandala design were created entirely in-house. During implementation, we placed particular emphasis on compliance with fire safety regulations. All materials were selected in accordance with the applicable standards, and we also integrated a specially designed, washable wall solution for sustainable use over several weeks during the Christmas season.
The promotion ran for around six weeks, seven days a week, including over the holidays.
"As an airport, we don't just want to generate revenue, we also want to create positive experiences. I was all the more impressed by how much time our travelers took to engage with the activation. Together with made Marketing, we created a place in the midst of the hustle and bustle of travel where people could find a moment of peace and joy."
