Mobiliar Anniversary Game
To mark its 200th anniversary, we developed an interactive sponsorship campaign for Mobiliar: a round LED gaming table featuring its own game.
Background
Mobiliar sponsors four indoor sports: basketball, volleyball, handball, and floorball. For its 200th anniversary, the company wanted to move beyond a traditional sponsorship campaign featuring banners or branded signage and instead create an interactive brand activation that engages and connects people on-site and works equally well at various sporting events.
The challenge: We needed a single concept that would bring together four different sports worlds, work in both German and French, and at the same time align with Mobiliar’s anniversary communications.
Our Solution
Instead of developing a separate game for each sport, we designed a unified gamification experience that brings all disciplines together. We took the theme of “round” literally: at the heart of the experience was a round LED screen, embedded in a custom-designed game table.
The game table stood out in the room simply because of its unusual shape. It didn't look like a traditional promotional tool, but rather like a standalone interactive object that sparked curiosity and invited people to join in.
The result was a live marketing campaign that not only highlighted the sponsorship but also made it an interactive experience.
Gamification: Round Pong with a Basketball Theme
The centerpiece of the campaign was a reimagining of the classic game Pong. The game was designed in-house at made and reimagined for the circular playing surface.
The result is a “round Pong” game for up to six players with a basketball theme. Each player controlled their position using two arcade buttons—left and right. The goal was to keep the balls in play as long as possible and work together to achieve a high score. A particularly challenging aspect of the game design was adapting the classic Pong game for up to six players to fit on a round LED screen.
The game was deliberately designed to be accessible: easy to understand in just a few seconds, immediately playable, and cooperative at its core. This made it easy for visitors to get started while also encouraging them to play again and again—a key factor in successful event gamification.
From the Workshop
How good a game feels often comes down to the details. During prototype development, we tested the spacing, height, and placement of the buttons directly on the object until the controls felt intuitive.
The round gaming table was also designed and built by made. The focus was not only on visual appeal, but also on stability, portability, and the seamless integration of the LED screen. The screen was recessed into the gaming enclosure to create a high-quality, cohesive overall look.
It was precisely this combination of concept, game design, and custom development that made the campaign so special: not an off-the-shelf product, but a tailor-made sponsorship gamification solution for Mobiliar.
